1. Scope and controller
This Privacy Policy applies to the Journvia iOS application and this legal website. It does not cover Apple services governed by Apple's own notices.
The operator and controller is Hengtong Li (李恒通). Privacy questions may be sent to hengtong.li@foxmail.com.
2. Information used by the app
Depending on the features you choose, Journvia processes the following information:
- Journey records, including start and end times, duration, transport modes, segments, marks, combos, and recording preferences.
- Content you add, including notes, emoji, activity labels such as reading or listening to music, landmarks, custom categories, destinations, and forecasts.
- Optional place information, including names such as Home or Office, coordinates, radius, geofence preference, and inferred commute timing. Journvia is not designed to retain a continuous GPS route or location trail.
- App preferences, feature entitlement status, synchronization state, and technical diagnostics you choose to send in a support request.
3. Sensitive and optional information
Precise location may be sensitive personal information under applicable law. Journvia requests separate iOS permission before accessing location. Refusing or revoking location permission does not prevent manual journey recording, although location-based optional features will not work.
Do not enter information about another person unless you have authority to do so. Avoid placing medical diagnoses, financial credentials, government identifiers, or other unnecessary sensitive details in free-text notes.
4. Sources, purposes, and legal bases
Information comes from you, from on-device calculations, and, only with permission, from Apple location interfaces. The legal basis depends on your location and the feature involved.
- Provide the journey journal, segmentation, landmarks, forecasts, combos, and settings you request: performance of the service or contract.
- Read optional location data: your affirmative permission or consent, which you may revoke in iOS settings.
- Synchronize eligible records through your private iCloud database: your choice to enable iCloud and performance of the requested feature.
- Protect, troubleshoot, and improve reliability without behavioral advertising: legitimate interests where permitted.
- Respond to rights requests, disputes, and lawful orders: legal obligation or legitimate interests.
- Generate local forecasts or milestones: provide the requested app function; these results do not create legal or similarly significant effects.
5. On-device storage and iCloud
Journvia does not require a Journvia account and currently operates without a developer-controlled backend for journey content. Records are stored in the app's local database. If you enable iCloud for Journvia, eligible records may synchronize through Apple's private CloudKit database associated with your Apple Account.
Private CloudKit records are controlled through Apple infrastructure and are not intended to be visible to the Journvia operator. Apple controls iCloud security, availability, account access, and its own processing under Apple terms.
6. Website data and cookies
This legal website does not set advertising or analytics cookies and does not run behavioral tracking scripts. It is hosted by Vercel. When you visit, Vercel may process ordinary delivery and security data such as IP address, request time, requested page, browser or device information, approximate region derived from IP, and security logs under Vercel's terms and the operator's hosting configuration.
The legal website does not receive your Journvia journey, note, or location records.
7. Disclosures and no sale
Journvia does not sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, use it for targeted advertising, or provide it to data brokers. Information may be processed only by:
- Apple, when you use the App Store, StoreKit, iCloud, or CloudKit, under Apple's applicable terms.
- Vercel, solely to host and secure this legal website.
- Professional advisers or service providers bound by appropriate confidentiality and data-protection duties, if introduced and disclosed before use.
- Authorities or other parties where disclosure is legally required, necessary to protect rights or safety, or part of a properly notified corporate transaction.
8. International transfers
Apple and Vercel may process information in countries other than where you live. Where the operator is legally responsible for a transfer, it will use an approved transfer mechanism and required supplementary safeguards, and will provide local disclosures or obtain separate consent when required.
Launch in China mainland or South Korea requires the production notice to identify actual overseas recipients, countries, purposes, methods, categories, and retention periods.
9. Retention and deletion
Journvia keeps information only as long as needed for the feature, your choices, legal obligations, and dispute or security needs.
- Local journey content remains until you delete it with an in-app control or remove the app; removing the app may not remove a synchronized iCloud copy.
- Eligible iCloud records remain until deleted through the in-app deletion flow or applicable Apple account controls.
- Support correspondence and legal records are retained only for the request, security, tax, dispute, or statutory period that applies. Vercel logs follow the operator's configuration and Vercel's then-current retention terms.
10. Security
Journvia uses platform protections such as the iOS app sandbox, Apple permission controls, encrypted network transport provided by Apple and Vercel, and private CloudKit access controls. Access is limited to what is needed for the service.
No storage or transmission method is completely secure. If a breach creates a legally reportable risk, the operator will investigate and notify affected people and regulators as required.
11. Children and automated outputs
Journvia is a general-audience lifestyle tool and is not directed to children under 13. A person below the age at which they may consent to data processing in their country should use optional personal-data features only with valid parent or guardian authorization. Special rules, including under-14 requirements in China mainland and South Korea, apply where relevant.
Forecasts, inferred commute candidates, and milestones are informational calculations based on your records. Journvia does not use them for decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
12. Your rights and contact
Depending on where you live, you may request access, a copy, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, or withdrawal of consent, and may complain to your local privacy regulator. Mandatory exceptions may apply. Because Journvia has no custom account and the operator is not intended to see your private CloudKit records, the in-app controls are normally the most direct way to exercise these rights.

13. Changes to this policy
The operator may update this policy when features, providers, or laws change. Material changes will be presented in the app or by another legally appropriate notice before they take effect. The effective date and version above identify the current text.
